At Sychar Healing Ministries, we believe that every life matters—especially those who have walked long, hard roads and are now in the later years of their journey. Our Elderly Support Program is rooted in love, compassion, and the biblical command to care for the widows, the aged, and the forgotten.
Many of the elderly in our community have been abandoned, left without family support, and are struggling to meet their most basic needs—food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare. Yet, these are the very people who once carried the burdens of others and helped shape our villages and families.
Our mission is to give them back what the world has taken away: hope, dignity, and love.
Why This Matters
Our elders hold wisdom, history, and stories that cannot be replaced. They are living testimonies of endurance and faith. Yet many feel abandoned and invisible. With your support, we are changing that—one elder at a time. This program also helps younger generations see the value of honoring their elders and teaches them to live with compassion and responsibility.
What We Do
•Monthly Food Packages
We provide basic food items like maize flour, rice, beans, cooking oil, and sugar to elderly individuals who would otherwise go hungry.
•Clothing and Bedding Support
Through donations, we provide warm clothing, mattresses, blankets, and other essentials to help them live in comfort and dignity.
•Medical Assistance
We help the elderly access medical treatment, buy necessary medications, and provide transport to clinics when needed.
•Spiritual Care and Fellowship
Our ministry team visits the elderly regularly—praying with them, encouraging them with Scripture, and reminding them that they are not forgotten. Many of them say this is the greatest gift of all.
•Home Visits and Repairs
Where possible, we assist with small repairs to their homes, clean their compounds, and ensure they are living in safe, clean environments.
How You Can Help
• Sponsor an Elder: With as little as UGX 50,000 ($13) per month, you can help feed and care for an elderly person.
•Donate Items: Clothes, shoes, soap, walking sticks, and blankets are always needed.
•Join Our Outreach: Volunteers are welcome to accompany us during visits and participate in prayer and service.
•Pray for Them: Lift up their names before God and ask for peace, healing, and joy in their final years.
