Our Story
Sychar Mission School began humbly in 2015, driven by a vision to bring education and hope to children who had none. At first, we were known as Namutumba Christian Junior School, and we operated with minimal resources, yet with great faith.
In 2016, as the work grew deeper and more impactful, we rebranded to Sychar Mission School, inspired by the biblical story of the woman at the well (John 4). Just like that encounter brought spiritual renewal, we aim to be a place of transformation for children and families.
Despite our progress, the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard. In addition to the health and economic impact, we faced a disaster: strong winds destroyed our school buildings. Everything we had built was taken—classrooms, roofs, and learning materials were all lost. But our faith and purpose remained unshaken.
We are now in the process of rebuilding from the ground up. What we lost physically, we gained in resilience. The need is great—but the hope is greater.
For years, the school provided a safe learning environment, nurturing not only minds but also souls. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it brought more than just a health crisis. As families struggled, the school faced an unimaginable blow—strong winds destroyed our buildings, and in a moment, everything we had worked so hard to build was gone. What remained was only the determination to start again.
Today, the children and families of Namutumba still carry that hope. We invite you to stand with us and help restore Sychar Mission School. Together, we can rebuild what was lost, renew dreams, and give this community back its light.
Join us. Restore hope. Rebuild the future.
